A garden for the whole neighborhood

Cedar Lane Community Garden has been bringing neighbors together since 2011. Nestled along the northern edge of Cedar Lane Park, our garden offers 40 individually-maintained plots in a supportive, friendly community setting.

Whether you're an experienced grower or picking up a trowel for the first time, you'll find a welcoming place here. We host seasonal work days, seed swaps, and a midsummer harvest party every August.

Plots are rented on an annual basis each season — April through October — and renters have first right of renewal the following year.

Keeping the garden great for everyone

A few simple guidelines help us maintain a space that everyone loves and respects.

Please Do

  • Maintain your plot throughout the season — keep it weeded and growing.
  • Use organic growing methods only; no synthetic pesticides or herbicides.
  • Clean up the common areas after using shared tools or spaces.
  • Return shared tools to the shed after each use.
  • Harvest your crops regularly so nothing rots in the plot.
  • Notify the garden coordinator if you'll be away for more than 2 weeks.
  • Be considerate of neighboring plot holders.

Please Don't

  • Don't use synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides of any kind.
  • Don't harvest from another renter's plot without explicit permission.
  • Don't block pathways with tools, hoses, or plant material.
  • Don't bring dogs or other pets into the garden area.
  • Don't install permanent structures without coordinator approval.
  • Don't leave trash or non-compostable waste in the garden.
  • Don't sublet or transfer your plot to another party.
